The Joy of Belonging to a Local Church

A Christian disconnected from the family is like a football player without a team, a soldier without a platoon or a child without a family. We want to help you figure out how to become a registered member of Makerere Full Gospel Church.

Benefits of Membership

It identifies a person as a genuine believer (Ephesians 2:19, Romans 12:5)

It provides a family to support and encourage in the Christian walk/life (Galatians 6:1-2, Hebrews 10:24-25)

It provide an opportunity to discover and use spiritual gifts (1 Corinthians 12:4-27)

It provides spiritual protection (Hebrews 13:7, Acts 20:28-29)

It provides the accountability you need to grow (Ephesians 5:21)

Requirements for Membership

Born again experience and baptism in water by immersion

Commitment evidenced by fellowship and involvement (2 Corinthians 8:5). You commit yourself to Christ for salvation then commit yourself to other Christians in our church family. The phrase "one another" or "each other" is used over 50 times in the New Testament. We are commanded to love each other, pray for each other, encourage each other, admonish each other, greet each other, serve each other, teach each other, accept each other, honour each other, bear each other's burdens etc. You are expected to be involved in some ministries and attend at least two services every week.

Be in full harmony and accord with the Full Gospel Church doctrine, in particular demonstrate a genuine desire for baptism in the Holy Spirit (Acts 2:1-4)

Attend and excel in a membership study course. The duration of the course is two (2) months

Responsibilities of a Member

  1. Acting in love towards other members
  2. Refusing to gossip (Matthew 12:36)
  3. Submitting to church authority (Romans 14:19, 1 Peter 1:22. Ephesians 4:29, Hebrews 13:17)
  1. Praying for the church
  2. Witnessing and inviting people to attend
  3. Warmly welcoming those who visit
  4. Developing a servant heart (Luke 14:23, Romans 15:7)
  1. Attending faithfully
  2. Living a godly life
  3. Giving tithes, offering and pledges regularly (1 Corinthians 16:2, Leviticus 27:30, Malachi 3:10)
